Beats our tent any day
Multi award winning Australian architect Clare Cousins cleverly filters the natural Australian environment by bringing the outside in through the extensive application of Breezway louvres in this beach house extension at Mornington NSW.
By filtering sunlight and seabreeze, the louvres provide the user both connection and protection of the exterior environment which celebrate the stunning and expansive views of Port Phillip Bay.
The new pavilion includes a new master bedroom wing with living room and deck for outdoor dining which form a thoughtful addition to the main house as a new site of sanctuary and escape. Cousins has described the addition a ‘a self-contained, timber-clad treehouse… added to an original merchant builder’s home to elevate its owners’ daily lives both literally and metaphorically…’.
